A computer mouse is important because it is used to tell a computer what to do, and also because it allows you to choose things on the screen, by clicking on it.
When you move a mouse on your desk, the pointer on the screen moves in the same direction. When you want to select something shown on the screen, you press the buttons on the mouse or ‘click’ it.
The mouse got its name because the wire coming out of the end of the first computer mouse reminded people of the tail of a real mouse. Many mice today are wireless, and run on batteries. The mouse was invented by Douglas Engelbart in 1964.

What is a Mouse Pad and Why do we use it?
A mouse pad is a pad that provides a smooth surface for the movement of a computer mouse. It reduces the amount of dirt that enters the mouse, and some mouse pads have a built in wrist support for extra comfort.
