With the advent of OTT streaming services, more and more people are shifting from traditional cable and satellite TVs to online watching options.

OTT (over the top) is used to describe internet based services which allows users to watch media content online without paying for their cable or satellite connections. According to Statista (a German online statistical portal), OTT viewership is expected to reach 650 million by 2021. Monetary speaking, OTT market is believed to reach a sum of 128.84 billion dollars by 2024 which is more than double the jump from 67.8 billion dollar figure in 2018.

The online-streaming entertainment industry has been dominated predominantly by Netflix, Amazon and Hulu lately with smaller streaming services lagging behind by quite a margin. Disney already has made its presence known by Hulu, where it showcases programs from all the major networks and several cable channels.

These giants of the industry have been endlessly providing the viewers with large amount and varieties of content. Earlier people had to either memorise ‘What’s on TV’ section of the newspaper to keep track of their favourite shows, with services like these, now they can access shows across categories, genres, and time just at one click. Since, the ease of streaming services have turned their faces away from the umbrellas stuck on their roofs, channels like Disney are increasing their hold on the new and growing market.

One of their new additions being the family oriented Disney Plus to cater to the growing demand, and also giving families a platform where they won’t need to apply child lock, and/or need to cover the eyes of their children because of the prevalence of R-rated content.
