MasterChef: The Truth About Poh’s Love ‘Triangle’ And How Now He Can’t Find A Partner
MasterChef’s renowned success, Poh Ling Yeow, recently shared insights into her unconventional love life and reflected on her experience returning to the iconic cooking show that catapulted her to fame.
In an interview with Daily Mail Australia at her latest pop-up restaurant in QT Melbourne, the 49-year-old downplayed public curiosity regarding her ‘love square’ situation, dismissing any misconceptions about its nature as overly sensational.
Recently, Poh managed the Jamface café in Adelaide alongside her two former spouses, Jono Bennett and Matt Phipps, as well as Matt’s current spouse, Sarah Rich, who also happens to be Poh’s best friend. However, Jono has since departed from the business.
Renowned MasterChef alum, Poh Ling Yeow, candidly discussed her unconventional romantic life and the experience of making a comeback to the cooking show that launched her career.
While this setup might raise eyebrows for some, Poh emphasized that their distinctive arrangement was not a major issue.
“I believe everyone wants to portray this in a provocative manner, but we’ve seamlessly adapted to it,” she explained, referring to the public interest in their atypical connection.
“We all operate the Jamface café collectively, serving as equal partners. That’s just how things unfolded. We don’t perceive it as anything unusual; it’s simply our reality.
“I reckon everyone’s inclined to imagine there’s some sort of love triangle involved. But trust me, there’s no love triangle here!”
Matt’s former husband, Matt Phipps (left), has tied the knot with Sarah Rich (right), his close companion.
The Snackmasters presenter further expressed feeling a profound sense of melancholy regarding the conclusion of her union with her initial spouse, Matt. Consequently, she chose to maintain their friendship and business affiliations, not wanting to discard the valuable aspects along with the less favorable ones.
“After we no longer had to stay together as a married couple, we both realized, ‘Wow, this is so much better. It encapsulates everything we cherish about our relationship without the challenging aspects.'”
Following a similar trajectory, Poh maintained an amicable bond with her second husband, Jono, even after their separation in 2021, following a six-year marriage.
Having prioritized her career over the past year, Poh is now prepared to reenter the dating scene. However, she acknowledges the challenges of using dating apps due to her prominent position in the media.
“I don’t receive any genuine interest, nothing. And I’m at a loss on how to navigate it! I mean, how does someone in the media world… how do they handle these apps?” she pondered.
While Poh’s connection with her ex might appear unconventional, he emphasized that their relationship “wasn’t a significant issue.”
Opting for a more personal approach, the Malaysian-born chef seems content to take her time and engage in face-to-face interactions rather than delve into the complexities of “cutthroat” dating apps.
Reflecting on her experience working with MasterChef judge Melissa Leong during her return to the cooking competition for the Back to Win season in 2020, Poh expressed her appreciation for Melissa’s feminine energy.
“It was truly delightful to have that feminine energy from Melissa. I felt she brought a distinct atmosphere and sensibility to the judging panel that I genuinely valued,” she stated.
Poh also disclosed that she fostered a “cultural bond” with Melissa, who is of Chinese-Singaporean descent, and was grateful to have “someone on her side.”
Moreover, Poh reiterated her positive experience working alongside MasterChef judge Melissa Leong during the Back to Win season in 2020, emphasizing how Melissa’s feminine energy brought a unique and appreciated dynamic to the judging panel.
Poh Ling Yeow, 49, Reveals the Skincare Secrets Behind Her Incredibly Ageless Complexion
Poh Ling Yeow continues to defy age, looking younger each passing year, despite nearing the age of 50.
The 49-year-old MasterChef luminary recently disclosed her skincare regimen, which contributes to her youthful appearance. Speaking with Daily Mail Australia, she shared that she relies solely on a foaming facial cleanser and moisturizer.
“Neutrogena’s foaming face wash with Aveeno. That’s been my go-to for as long as I can remember, and I swear by it,” she affirmed.
Poh also divulged that she has been prioritizing a “very clean” diet lately, sourcing fresh produce from the nearby farmers’ market close to her Jamface Café in Adelaide. She mentioned a recent dinner consisting of half a melon paired with locally sourced prosciutto, steamed limes, and mushrooms.
Despite showcasing her culinary prowess in her own kitchen, the TV host admitted her fondness for chocolate and the occasional indulgence in two-minute noodles.
“I stick to a mostly clean diet because of the delightful flavors, but I’m not opposed to enjoying chocolate for breakfast. I can also have my moments of being a bit uncouth,” she joked.
“I have a weakness for two-minute noodles. That’s my guilty pleasure. If I’m feeling a bit low or stressed, that’s my go-to comfort food. That, alongside some lettuce or wombok, and perhaps some frozen fish balls or whatever I can find in the freezer.”
Poh’s announcement of her return to MasterChef this year as a guest judge comes after her previous appearance alongside Melissa Leong during the Back to Win season in 2020.
